Thumbs down 4AGE possible sensor problem?

    Car - KE70

    motor - Bigport 4age

    use - Daily/Drift

problem - When i go to start my car every single time i have to try around 4 times before it actually fires, other times it will start but have a horribly rough idle and if you try to rev it it will backfire out ether intake or exhaust. I have seen 2 shops about this and it is definitely not my timing and there stumped on what it is, but could it be a sensor or my ecu sending wrong signals? And also it seems to run alot better some times than others, i will have more power or sometimes very little power but if i turn it off and start again it sometimes gets more powerfull.

And as far as checking for diagnostic codes, my car wont go into diagnostics mode

occurs/started when - Since engine conversion

personal situation (if applicable)- If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated, as this is my daily and really neeed it running.

If you cant use diagnostic mode you have no choice but to start buying sensors and swapping them in one at a time.

Start with water temp. Then do air temp, then good luck.

Check ecu earth to intake manifold or head, and make sure it is a clean surface.

If the IDL contacts in the TPS aren't closed with the throttle closed you won't be able to go into diagnostics. Try resetting the TPS to spec and try again.

why wont it go into diagnostic mode?

put a light between the check engine output of your ecu and ground = check engine light

connect pins E1 and T1 on the ecu = diagnostic mode.

is the cold start injector hooked up?

are you missing any sensors? specifically anything to do with coolant temp.

contrary to what any shops say, that firing out the intake imediatly points to cam or ign timing being out.

where do you live? ah burleigh...thats a bit of a drive...

^^ Probably your continuity between the diag box and the ecu is broken for Terminals E1 and T1.

No reason why you can't trace it near the ecu , and splice into both E1 and T1 and put a switch in your dash (effectively joining both E1 and T1) to enter diag mode. If you don't have a Check engine light, add one... Ignition switched power to one side of the globe, and the other you normally would earth goes to the W pin on the ecu.

And if you still get get into diag mode, then swap out your ecu for one that works.

I am 100% sure that T1 and E1 is a continous wire as ive stripped the loom to trace it back and used a multi meter, ill have to check once tps is set. i have a big feeling its that as when i got it there was only one screw in the tps.

MAP yes, definately yes, it is most likely in limp mode if it has that error.

02 sensor not so much, that will just give you slightly worse fuel economy.
