So it's not an 86 but it's my trusty daily. An AE90 corolla hatch, 4AFC engine.
Tonight I started it and it ran for a few seconds and just stopped, cranked but won't fire.
Has no spark at all from coil.
Coil was replaced a month ago because it died, along with new leads and plugs.
I have resistance tested the coil, and everything reads within acceptable standards, so in THEORY the coil should be ok but won't provide spark.
Positive side is getting a solid 12V, but I can't get a test light to light up, using the negative terminal on the coil with the ignition turned to 'ON' I proceeded to connect a wire to the coils negative terminal to the body, still no spark at all.
Is this how the ground wire works? Why do I still have no spark? How can I test that ground wire? Or what else could the problem be?
Can an would be awesome, cheers.
the negative side, should have 12 volts on reds, as the coil will equal out, try another coil, out your test light on pos on your battery and put it on neg side of coil and turn it over and see if it pulses or not
