Stock ADM model is fine, finding one in good condition to drive for 24months without 1 thing breaking or needing to be changed is mission impossible. But more stock will be easy to manager if your not too familiar with AE86s

Gear-head: cheers mate for the advice, when I say track time I really just mean going down to the wet pan on rare occasions and maybe a few laps at Wakefield if anything, more keen on just owning the beast and showing her off daily aha. When you say have parts ready around the house what are the best parts to have? As in what are common problems I can be looking at that would be possible to fix myself?Focus_7: cheers mate, it's comments like that which make me want to go out and pick one up now. 90% of what I hear about the 86 is just awesomely positive, can't wait to be a member aha XP

Dead alternator is first in my mind, went through so many recodition ones lol, Then starter motor comes second, everything else that you think is dodgy is most likely going to cause trouble, example

You buy a car that has an exhaust, seems ok but had a small leak, 2months later most likely gone worse and needs a new exhaust system. Lol

4age, bought it with a lil oil leak, 4months later, still leaking + more..
Blowing a little blue smoke? Don't even bother with second thoughts..

But that was me with little money before so I could only afford dangerous ae86 that shouldn't even be on the road! But those were the best time as experience only comes with time spent under the car. Above applies to any car you buy, but it just so happens that most ae86 are in rough condition and over priced now for the condition they are in..

And rust.... Make sure your happy to exchange your hard earnings for some rusty metal. Haha

Jacobxxx: yes.Rice86: thanks for all this advice bra, definitely got me thinking on how to prep for whatever can go wrong. Another big incentive for me are the financial pros like now I'll be looking at a small loan or a couple of months of savings instead of a hefty $20-25000 loan and ass rape if I need a new car part eg. Clutch aha and even insurance is a lot less than that of other cars like new Commo's etc.I'm definitely up for any more advice guys, cheers to everyone that has shared their wisdom on the beast this far. The best option would be find a stock, clean, low km, Jap import... Preferably still in Japan.
Yes its more expensive initially, but you get a great condition car with all the go fast and nice bits on it from factory.
Much less headaches and will be more gentle on your wallet in the long run.

Then you can do the normal things like new rims, a nice exhaust and some bilstein shocks with mild springs.

Yeah but I heard import can be fairly expensive what would be a good import service to look at, perhaps get a quote?
