You don't NEED a surge tank but chances are you will get fuel surge if you're drifting your car with less than a quarter of a tank of fuel.

    Your options are either:

A - Get a JDM AE86 fuel tank, these have baffles within the tank which prevent the fuel from sloshing around and your engine potentially getting a big gulp of air instead of fuel.

B - Run a surge tank, here's a good article that will give you some insight . Now with a surge tank you can go in car, ie in the spare wheel well or just in the boot, or you can go undercar. Undercar is what I have and what I prefer, it's cleaner, you don't have fuel exposed to the cabin and you don't get fumes in the cabin, having an undercar in a Corolla would require you to either find one of the specifically made undercar surge tanks that Aaron had made or find/modify one that fits yourself.

I'm not making any assumptions but if you're not confident that you can do a grouse job of a surge tank I'd recommend just paying for a JDM 86 tank, a surge tank is one thing that HAS to be done right and not dodged up IMO. By the time you buy a surge tank and all associated parts and tools you could buy a JDM tank anyway, it'll look cleaner under your car, it'll be quicker/easier and much safer compared to a dodgey surge setup.

You dont need a surge tank, all ive got is a low pressure vl pump in-tank going to the high presssure vl pump and ive never had any fuel surge problems since putting in a 4ag. İve driven with the fuel light coming on and never experienced surge.

You dont need it, but its probabaly better if you do have one.

dont need one and if not done correctly will cause more issues, 4ag will never suffer if you get surge will just cut out around corners, just keep ore than 1/4 in the tank
