two options, get the holes welded up or you can buy block off hose pieces (has opening on one side, other is blocked)

Really want to avoid draining coolant & removing Bypass pipes if at all possible. . .

Thats (Supercheap) where I went - I told the guy what I needed them for and he just pointed me to the turnstile rack with the $5 Packets of bungs. The guy didn't seem that cluey - he said that AFAHK they were meant for vacuum lines, soI'm not sure they're up to retaining coolant pressurised to ~ 12psi.

be careful using those caps because there are two styles. One is in fact for vacuum only and will not last long if being used for coolant ( i know cuz i did that). The other ones are thicker and are made for coolant. But I would agree with Trikzlane, i would get them welded because it's clean and safe.

I just stuck a screw that fitted inside the pipes loosely with some loctite grey silicone gasket stuff. Looks like shit but you won't see it anyway and works well.

    Thanks guys. . .

I have done both actually because I can't get Heater / Coolant Hose End Caps smaller than 10mm Dia. What I mean is, I put an 8mm Vacuum End Cap over the two pipes and then Pushed a 10mm Coolant End Cap over that and hose Clamped it. Not ideal but it should do for now. . .
