great looking hydro mate! love the look of this thing and where it is going but would the 2j make the frontend a bit heavy?

Cheers Fanta
Grabbed a hydro today of a mate, will run it inline with a land rover 5/8th clutch master.
And rewired the thermo's in with a new plug, they now run the correct direction and thus cool a lot better lol

People quote figures of just over 200kg for the complete engine minus box, so yeah their a bit of porker.
But the power capability and reliability more than makes up for it.
And it doesn't seem to have any detrimental affect on the cars handling over all, give her the boot and it quickly lifts the nose anyway
Fitted the hydro this arvo.
Welded up some 5mm plate to mount it all and passed some studs through the tunnel.
More plate on the other side and the tunnel is double skinned in this area because of the box x-member.
Nice and solid to swing from, will run a new line for the rear at work through the week.
Might also make up a longer and different shape lever depending how I find this one.
Took car for skids a few weekends ago at the local drift prac day,.....old girl LURVES IT!
Handbrake cylinder is all wrong though, they supplied me a 3/4 it seems, which is too big to get any advantage on.
Ended up making a longer handle and gusseting the mount so I could really swing off it, still barely worked :/
I have a 5/8th one to go in now which should be sweet.
Thumped the fark out of the sump a few times on my offroad excursions as it sits a little lower than the crossmember.
Will have a new one fabbed up to sit a bit higher with a larger capacity or find a 1j/2j front sump setup and also fit a BASH PLATE!!! lol
Also picked up some SSR Meshies cheeeep in 16x7" and 16x8"
Unfortunately the eights have a more positive offset and the outer lip is less dished by half an inch.
No probs, I want to strip them for a refurb so I will swap the outer bands around and have 6.5" front and 8.5" rear.
Already measured all my clearances and this should work well with a nice stagger front to rear and more dish on the rear.
Not the other way around as it is at the moment....
Went out to the Baskerville test and tune yesterday, cut some hot laps, set the front brakes on fire and
had a ball in the allocated drift sessions, first time with a working hydro...so so good to be able to set the car up on the entries and so much fun!
Also this...
Crank pulleys outer ring went for a walk, first I noticed was the temp was creeping up after a few runs and then I noticed the belt was noisey.
Had a marshal take a lookey, he had some belt grip in the tray of his ute so he starts spraying it on when another marshall walks up an exclaims
'theres a pulley in here' I'm thing 'yeah there's quite a few' not quite understanding what he meant when he reaches down into the engine bay and holds the crank
pulley up
Amazing thing is it didn't hit anything even as tight as it is down there between the radiator and just rolled itself across on top of the castor rod mount!
Even the belt stayed on and if I had a shorter one I could have sneaked home with it.
All good 1j vvti single turdbro on its way and going in between the towers the next few weeks
Should be a torque monster down low, instead of raping it on limiter in second and third with the n/a 2j
should hold third and fourth gear sideways nicely with less revs.
Also scored some 15x8 challengers from a mate, he had them at the track but the offset was wrong for his 1j celica, they fit the rona hellflush
once the lip was persuaded a little with a jack handle, some people in the back and rolling the car back and forth a few times.
Nice... Should be a weapon with the 1jz vvti
Pics from the weekend
