smash it with a sledge hammer
hey guys,
Just got a set of bolt on flares and wondering if the best method is to just cut the guard off or to cut the guard into small strips and bend it up to meet the edge of the flares.
Cheers

THIS WAY ... any other way and youll be welding shit here there and everywhere
What size wheel?
He's not technically flairing the guards, he's putting bolt on flairs on.
Cut it as far as possible, you want to maximise the usage of your flairs so you don't want metal hanging down, around or behind the bolt on.
But yeah as marv said, wheel size?
Just do it the way I had them on my guards that you saw.

14x8 -10... Yeah jake that seems the easiest option but looking to see if there is other ways
unless your running spacers you'd get away with a gaurd roll, or are you going for the bolt on flairs look?

Even if u are bolting the flairs over the top still smash it with a sledge hammer. Then the flair will cover up the hammer marks.

Like already mentioned, leaving the original guard there is pointless. If you can leave the metal guard then the flares arnt needed and you should just flare the metal and smooth them with bog.
If you are going to have wheels that warrant bolt on flares you will need to cut all the original flare off, weld up the gap and then attach the fibreglass flares. I'm just about to do that.
