I have done screwdriver/bar from one end to make it line up, then put the bolt halfway in from the other.
Once the bolt is in, its usually easier to screw it in, or hit the mount and push the bolt
today i rebushed the lower trailing arms in my 86 fitted with t series diff,im trying to install them now and can only get the bolt on the body mount, the mount on diff only half the hole lines up,ive tryed prying it,jacking on a slight angle, and cant get the few extra mm needed, what dose everyone else do?any advice would be great, its really starting to shit me

thanks mate that pretty much did it,skinned the shit outa my nuckles on last one,i think the urathane bushes made it a slut haha
Yeah, I just use a phillips head and pry it across and tap the bolt through with a soft mallet.
it is the worst thing ever removing trailing arms for the first time after 30 years. after that it is easy every time
stroked 2L ca18-ae86 in the build...eta xmas 2012?
amen to that,so happy its over now
I use a set of Super Crap allen keys (half are bent now)... I start off with the smaller ones and pry it across and work my way up to the larger ones. The biggest is 10mm i think which is the same size as the bigger of the bolts.
thanks, ill try that out next time
Much easier when done on a hoist too with a gearbox stand to use as well, haha.
