    Default developing 'sticky' steering concerns..

    CAR - AE71
    MOTOR - 4ac
    USE - Daily

    Setup:
    BC Coilovers
    JDM 86 Vented Brakes,
    P/S Arms,
    Xt130 LCAs-New Bushes, new balljoints
    AJPS Lock Spacer
    AJPS 40mm RCAs
    T18 Inner tierod tubes
14x7 SSR Longchamps with RE001 tires.

PROBLEM/QUESTION - Since wheel alignment, a week ago, the car has developed a steering issue..
When you steer into, for example a left hand a medium corner at speeds roughly higher than 50, it can jerk suddenly as though the steering gets stuck or sticky.. Its not a major change of steering angle, more like a small jerk as though the steering has some play in it... Recently, in a 200m left hand corner, the car jerk left then right then right again, almost sending me into a car in the right lane..

i know this description sucks, but if anyone has any ideas that would be great...

could this just be a caster related issue?

    cheers..

How much camber are you running if any? Could be a very bad case of tracking or as you say the steering has play in it because of something loosened off and night tightened again.

do you know the specs of your wheel alignment?

what damper settings are on the coilovers? number of clicks..soft or hard?

when the car "jerks" does it bounce/hop before the jerk? or does the steering just Steers itself left to right to left again? is your steering wheel loose?

if everything SHOULD be ok, i'll be double checking that EVERYTHING to do with the cars steering is on TIGHT and installed correctly.
Sounds like something is moving *wheel alignment is changing* while in motion that could be causing this behavior

EDIT.. and be honest.. how FAST are you going around this corner because if you are going 50kmph around a bend, and the car throws you off that far enough to almost hit the on coming car.. then you seriously have something wrong so it really doesn't add up in my point of view.

ive misplaced the settings, but the camber is set at roughly 1.3 and 0.9 or something along those lines... not an agressive setup, as its mostly just a daily car.

as for the coilovers there set for daily duties at 16 clicks... so in the middle..

and its an odd sensation, but its as though the car continues for a split second to steer, and then it comes back again...

im going over the car now, but everything seems as it should be, my aligner guy looked over it aswell when it first went in...

and as for the example, i should have been more clear, its a 300m bend in which you I was traveling between 65-70 kms an hour.

mods were completed when i got those rcas Dave, so like last week..

so if everything is ok, i can only imagine your setup is just following the bad grooves of this road or bump steer

does this only happen when turning and on any sort of road?

so ive had another look, and found the problem...

theres movement between the balljoint on the passenger side of the car and the lower control arm...

    sweeeeet -__-

should i assume part of the reason is to do with the lower control arm and be on the look out for another?
