Have you got fresh seals there? Old ones tend to be dry and cracked~
(I do mean those washers not the seal under the covers)
Kinda annoyed that my 16v is leaking my expensive castrol edge everywhere!
The nuts holding my washers on my cam covers leak like all shit and I was wondering whether this is common or just a simple mistake people make? Is there any easy fix for this?
Cheers guys,
Deeken

Yeah I had a new set but even they were leaking so I tried the original ones I had but they're leaking too..
So shit lol.. My mate is hooking me up with some genuine replacements, hopefully will solve it
Are you tightening them up enough? Awhile ago I used normal washers and nipped them up abit tighter and was fine (replaced with seals a few weeks later though) so seems wierd it's leaking so much, have you got excessive blow-by?
I got a bit of blow by, the rings that came with my wiseco pistons had a decent End gap on em but we used them anyway so it's got a bit...
Guessing new genuine washers will be able to tighten down well so I hope that fixes it..
Would it help running a catch can? I can relieve the pressure and keep the Oil it's spitting lol
Would definitely get a catch can, don't want blow by in ur manifold, shits filthy!!
Also it's only going to vent on the side the barb is.. Is that in the same chamber as the other side of head? I'm pretty sure I remember seeing channels through between them while I had the head off
It will suck up all the crap you don't want in there, it's all connected. And you wont be burning it off!!
Awesome little devices, just remember to empty it when it's full!
Should my fresh engine have much blow by though?
It has .020" wiseco pistons in it with wiseco rings and the pistons are 10.2:1 compression,
but then also the block and head have been shaved as well, so like up near 11:1 compression..
But with the rings it had end gap specs and the end gap in the rings was a few thou bigger then it should have been for street..
