Nolathane + grinder = ?

problem - Grinding down bushes to make fit

occurs/started when - I saw the price of nolathane

personal situation - up the shit but thanks for asking!

Hey, so I final found some sigma arms.
They need new bushes so I went about looking for some.
I found these on ebay

My question is how does nolathane take to being ground down?
Do I try to keep the heat out of it?
Or do I just take the bushes to the engineering shop and ask to have them turned down in a lathe?
Some one once told me that you have to use a high speed cutting device with nolathane?
Will a lathe kill the bushes?

polyurathe doesn't like being turned down much, you have to try and slice it off. Not a very accurate means of doing it.

I might ring mitsubishi tomorrow and see if they still make the rubber bushes.
I have read on here about a guy complaining of putting new rubber bushes in and having them crumble in a matter of hours...
Could this be from getting too much heat into them when grinding them down?
How does rubber go in a lathe?

i used a bench grinder, jsut do it in small bits, so it doesnt get really hot, and melt
done it a few times, like usinga chopped Commo panhard rod, you need to drill out one of the commo panhard rod bushes, all works you jsut need to keep the heat down as mush as possible

thats why high heat area's your better off using rubber(old yank tanks and hq's etcetc you run rubber bushes in the uppar and lower arms, as they handle the heat from your extractors better(mainly big blocks etcetc) compared to nolathane as it melts)

I have to admit I didn't pay too much attention to your original finer details and didn't click on the link at first. I can slice that off shorter with a blade in my lathe or in my mill as above

Sorry, are we talking about using a bench grinder with the polyurathe or rubber?

So Sam, if i send you some nothathane bushes, you say you would be able to mod them for me - Slice them down and mill the crush tubes to the same lenght?

I just called Repco and they will do these at half the price (trade account) of the ebay listing - so they are looking much more promising.

What would you charge me? Can go to PM if you want.

EDIT* Mitsubishi are saying the rubber bushes are obsolete.

What about a hacksaw? Less heat than doing it with a grinder, ect.

nolathane bushes you can use a grinder, you juest have to keep the heat down, or as above use a hacksaw, but that take AGES(must admit never tried with a courser tooth blade)
