    Default Using filler.

When you're using filler, can you please only use it for smoothing small stuff. I Just found patches two inches deep in my rear quarter, and parts of the rear frame rails have been remade with filler to hide the fact that some stupid knob jacked under there and bent the floor. I'm trying not to rant and carry on and act like a child, but this is really upsetting after putting so much effort into other areas of the car. DON'T DO IT GUYS! If this is innapropriate, mods please delete.

Go over car with a magnet before you buy it and see if there are any big areas of filler. But you are buying cars that are or nearly 30 years old (some even more now) Just things to look out for, I would think a better way to take this thread is how to tell if dodgy stuff has been done to a car, because it will always be done no matter who asks people not to.

Yeah pics would be good so we know what to look out for.

The magnet test may not detect metal filler? Perhaps it might, I'm just assuming that as it has metal in it, the magnet will still pull towards it.

walk around, look under neath and give rails nice hit with a little hammer, wont cause any damage but you will find rust and bog easy, if owner has a spit, ask them what they have to hide
