That spd wire you talk of just drops the rev limit to 7800 and timing advance back a tad
I've heard 20v need a speed sensor wired up to rev out properly
Not sure if that helps at all?
The speed signal will come out the back of the cluster, even the adm ones from what I have been told

The spd wire is connected up to the adm cluster.
before i hooked it up the engine light would come on
I removed the cover off the ecu today.
All the components seemed to be ok.
There's no fluid leaking from the capacitors and theres also no burnt smell inside the ecu?
Not really sure where to go from here?

Out of ideas myself... Earths are good right?
You've checked timing right? At 6500rpm is it hitting a limiter or just struggling?
If it rev's free in neutral and bogs done like you said when driving it may even be timing related. I would suggest making sure the cam and crank timing are spot on and check the ignition timing with a light.
Have you put the ECU in diagnoses mode?
Its like a limiter, as when you hit 6500 it pops and farts.
The cam and crank timing is spot on. And when i timed it up i put the car into diagnose mode.
And set the timing at 10 btdc.
Could be your o2 sensor, I drive an Ae111 Trueno with a blacktop 4age 20v. when the o2 sensor crapped out i had the same symptoms.
was dumping too much fuel in and flooding itself at times and other times i experienced pinging/detonation coz it was running way too lean.
new o2 sensor and she was all good again
disconnect the 02 sensor to test, it'll run like arse until warm, but once warm it should hit the limiter hard... i had no 02 sensor on my blacktop ae92 for about 18 months
I've been thinking it must be conversion related rather than the normal stuff...
What are your injectors like, had them cleaned, are seals busted etc... Being side fed if the seals are gone you'll spew fuel straight into the chambers...
when i carried out the conversion i fitted a new o2 sensor. I used a mr2 o2 sensor. But ill give it a try.
Sometimes new parts do stuff up.
Not sure what the injectors are like. i have not had them out.
