each to their own it was just my opinion

    bluebird, 1600 etc

ive driven both sr20t corollas and 4agte corollas

my opinion is people do a lot of pointless mods to their cars - big fabbed up tunnels, removable rad supports, huge guards, tubs etc - not saying theyre all pointless but a lot of people hack up thier cars for the sake of a few drift days....

whereas cars that arent that far removed from their original form and intention can still compete

I hear you but similar efforts are involved in SR20 1600's etc...
I love Toyota's engines too but they're not the only good motors around. Sometimes I think purism can stretch a little far is all.
If I were given the choice, I'd probably just turbo my 20v over the SR20. Because I've already got all the running gear I need..And to be honest, I wouldn't need an SR20. Too much engine for me.

I have absolutely no intentions of running s13 suspension or any Nissan breaking/ suspension components

Wills points are completely right why should we be limited to just the engines made by the manufacturer of the car ?
Because of purists? Because it should be left in its original state/form/ function or close too?

Fuck that I don't have enough money time or resources to build a 4agete as reliable, budget bound and easily be able to make power I think the sr20 at this stage is going to b the motor I go with for pure ease and reliablity in this platform I want to drive the car not spend time fixing issues with a motor modified way beyond its original form

The best thing about this decision is there is no right / wrong answer as to what is better....

What ecu do you plan on running?

Yeah, you're right. It's all dependant on what someone wants from the car.

Any reason why a 1000 won't do what you need?

from what ive seen with similar set ups run by guys i know the sport 2000 works the best for them and works better with the race pack dash and also allows for some of haltecs newer add ons/upgrades

But the only difference between them is basically the auxiliary inputs/outputs?

They both support CANBUS and to my knowledge share the same hardware..

Unsure how you came to the conclusion you did, but a ps2000 would be a waste of money in this case...
