Is Original the best?

I've been faced with a conundrum on replacing some broken components on my sprinter lately and it got be thinking, Is it best to replace broken components with the original Toyota items, or does putting in new technology outweigh the loss of 80's charm of the car.

I ask because my Dash clock fried with my recent and I'm not sure whether I want to replace the digital dash clock, or buy some new guages (possibly including another clock) and filling that space.

its just a clock, I would think that getting a 2nd hand one that is working and given it a clean with electrical cleaner should do the trick, gauge wise there isnt much that you could put there that would work with a sprinter being that they dont have an obd2 port as most small information meters that would fit in that space will need obd2

Replace it with things you are happy with... You drive it and you have to look at it.
