and i dont like the boring black, is there anything i can do for under $100? something chromish maybe or something that looks good?

That's an air filter housing



A9256 2 5/16" single barrel Stromberg

This one fits a 4AC, will cost around $35 from Burson, Repco, etc. Is also louder
