I'm curious to what type of steel is used in suspension components such as castor rods, lower control arms, panhard bars(the bar that is attached to the diff and body, I'm still learning )Also rose joints, are they all made the same?
If all joints were rose joints would it affect rigidity in the way the suspension acts? Would it be stable?
ahh where do we start.
stock components are made from nothing special, just steel.. i dont know what grade. some parts are cast and some are pressed and some are solid materials welded..
steel is heavy and low grades have weakness's, to get strength out of low grades you need to compensate with thickness etc.
aftermarket parts can be made from anything, good manufacturers use chromoly or "aircraft grade" aluminium mostly, but chinese crap is just steel and the spherical bearings.. aka rose joints have piss poor tolerances and are well known to flog out very prematurely
all made the same?... no... some are cast and some are machined
rode joints are a solid joint and are very ridged but don't affect the way the suspension acts.... the only point that can be argued in this case is with an unequal 4 link setup.
other then that, they give precise driver feedback and give zero geometry deflection under load. .... but the precious drivers out there will say it increases the NHV.. or NVH ( noise harshness vibration ) but IMO this is bull crap and if your complaining about that then buy a toyota camry.
the benefits and performance far outweighs a slight increase in noise. Thats noise you hear... not some noise thats supposed to happen on paper.
stability ... i guess it has some affect, but stability comes more from COG ( center of gravity )
however the car will be more responsive.
i rate them and run them all over the car.
brands to go for are Aurora or FK USA
just do yourself a favour and dont buy chinese crap.
