Goodo mate. I'd go with making some plates for under the car at each point of the cage, you seem pretty handy with most things!

Still haven't got the car back yet, but he has started and every things happening, would have been done today but the starter was seized when he went to start it :|
Also having him chuck in some Autometer gauges that he had lying around the shop. So here's hoping early this week coming, keeping in mind it's a car and something else will go wrong.

So not much has really happened lately since I picked up the cage. I stripped off the old padding, sanded it back to remove a few spots of surface rust, primed and painted it. I was going to paint it a ridiculous colour, like Hello Kitty pink but sensibility got the better of me so it's just satin black although I'm considering getting some Plasti Dip and painting it pink. Got all new bolts now just need to make up some new bottom plates that are a bit sturdier than the standard ones.

Also turns out BSP outlets don't align with anything AN from Speedflow so my oil cooler core is useless and I'm in need of a new one now 'ergh'.

Well, at least there's progress mate. Bummer about the oil cooler. Got an ETA on the engine yet?

I feel my car is going backwards. First, some stupid fuck has put some nasty dents in my driver's side door because they can't get out of their own car without fucking someone else's. The seals in the A/C compressor have started leaking so now there's no A/C. Now the engine is developing a bit of a flat spot down low and doesn't idle properly. I'm thinking I might as well just modify the damn thing!

I don't mean to be a smart arse but why don't you just use an adapter to convert from BSP to AN? Have had to so the same thing for the Turbo oil feed on the 4AGTE 1/8 BSPT to -4 on one end and 7/16-24 to -4 on the other. Not that hard if you have a look at the catalog.

Yeah engine should be fingers crossed and touch wood done early next week when the parts for the starter turn up. That's some bad luck man, people can be so freaking careless, especially around something as clean as yours. It's a damn shame your A/C is stuffed now it's getting hot, and the engine!? God damn you've been in the wars. I hope it all works out for you. How did you officer board go?

Haha all good, I did go down this path but nobody I can find even outside of Australia seems to make a male 5/8" BSP to -10AN fitting even a male 5/8" to female -AN anything doesn't seem to exist unfortunately. I scoured Speedflow's catalogue several times and they only do 1/2" BSP to -AN, and no other brands seem to do them either. If you could find me a solution I'd be very grateful haha.

Ah man, Officer board sucked ass. I fucked it bigtime. hahaha. Even the careers Officer said it was a really bad interview. She told me, "you've got to stop thinking like and ADG and put your good head back on". hahaha. She read the references from my NCOs and said she wasn't seeing any of 'me'. Psych interview was even worse! hahaha... Looks like I'll just go back in as an Airman if all goes well. Hoping for Air Movements. It's a good life and I like the C-17s. Failing that, I'd look at Cav.
To make things worse, DFR have stopped subsidising parking. I nearly needed a bank loan to pay for my parking! I've parked in Brisbane city twice this year for a total of about 5 hours. Grand total: $276! A/C quotes have been around $1,100 to redo the whole system. WTF??? When it rains, it pours. hahaha

I think it's time to hit the skidpan and release some frustration. hahaha. We are going cruising as soon as your wheels are on the road.

On the positive side, I've got my 4.6 gears on the boat, as well as a few other bits and pieces, plus some more Japanese alcohol. Yeah baby! hahaha

Ok so now it's time for a proper update.

Last week after some minor issues like the starter being seized and some odd wiring or there lack of any power to the internal fuse box and ECU, the new engine finally started, just..

Of course I got the old throw away, "that tune was all over the shop" which I was confused by as it was Seamus's old Adaptronic, different engines but similar setups. So tuning was started from scratch , everything went well only issue arising was an AFR in one cell that wouldn't stay stable at 3000 on cruise, kept jumping between 14.5 and 13.5 with exact inputs at different times, go figure?

And in the end I think he did well and I would recommend him to anyone, we ended up with a healthy figure of 143.15 HP at around 8500, rev limit set at 8700, I can't remember the torque readout and I can't find the print out.

    So if anyone cares the final spec list and work done is;

    King bearings
    ARP rod bolts
    Spool rods
    CP 12:1 pistons
    ARP head studs
    Kelford 194-C 284/278 cams
    Kelford valve springs
T3 adjustable 16v exhaust cam gear
Everything down stairs measured and balanced
Head reconditioned with clean up of ports and bowls
    60mm SamQ stacks
    Unifilter filters
    RSR modified 16v 4-1 extractors
    SamQ RWD conversion parts
Adaptronic E420C, COP's and Kaizen garage loom
Exedy heavy duty clutch and pressure plate
New water pump, tensionor, belts, and all seals
    Starter and alternator rebuilt

There's probably more but can't remember off the top of my mind. But anyway it freaking hooks, I can't wait to get back out on the track again.

I got some Autometer gauges hooked up as well while he was going, just oil press, oil temp, and water temp. Also I had some new base plates for the cage made up, 3mm thick compared to the 1.6mm standard ones, should be a fair bit sturdier. Got a wheel alignment this afternoon, because it was so horrible haha, old dude had a whinge about it, told them to just try and turns out they could do it, ignorant tyre people >:| specs I got them to dial in are -2.5 camber, +3.5 caster, 0 toe. I'll give it to the old guy he got it pretty close with a fair bit of whining.

And OH MY GOD THE NOISE! haha.

And Matt I'm keen for a catch up any time throughout the week.
