UPDATES
Ok holidays are over now and I'm back in Brisbane, so it's time to get back to it. I got a couple of things done since last time, mainly a lot of parts chasing.
I have achieved though;
- Stripped the engine bay and sprayed it up to look minty fresh again.
- Pulled apart my brake booster and checked and greased it all.
- Got my brake master re-sleeved and sealed.
- I ended up deciding to go manual rack so I removed all my power steering parts and ordered a T3 adapter bushes, reco rack, Supra intermediate shaft and an appropriate uni joint.
The engine is another story, when my engine builder stripped and checked all my clearances, the 4th cylinder was out by a considerable amount. Needing a bore and oversize pistons we decided to building a solid engine was a good idea. So we went shopping, CP 12:1 pistons, Spool rods, and Kelfords 194-C's and springs were ordered, I had a 0.8 TRD head gasket, so we'll decide if it's worthwhile putting that in to. So as it stands everything's gone off to be balanced and the engine should be assembled by early next week. I sourced a good condition VVT pulley from Seamus last night as the current one has gone in the bin and I also need to find an adjustable exhaust gear.
That's about it whilst i was on holidays but over the last couple of days I've given the throttle bodies some attention. Because I'm super OCD about clean parts and neatness I stripped them to clean, I was going to be happy with that, I succeeded in removing bulk black gunk from the inside of them, but they didn't really come up that well and I wasn't happy. I found a can of alloy spray paint, so I gave them a coat.

They do look better, but I think it makes them look cheap and plastic toy like, but oh well can't change it now.
When I work on stuff I forget to do anything else including eating to garlic buttered grilled cheese was in order:
I drove around everywhere today trying to find new seals for the injectors because the ones in there are fingered, but couldn't come up with anything that works.
I got some o rings ones but they are nothing like the standard Toyota one's on the bottom of the injector, so here's hoping there is new ones in the engine gasket and seal kit that's at the engine builders down home:
That's about it for now, Dan.

Yeah with the Army. Haha, that's awesome.
I dunno, it's got issues. A few days before I left it decided to throw in the towel. One day it was running fine and the next it started fine and ran fine, but as soon as it warms up it's starts pinging really really bad but only after it's warm. Has no power, won't idle, and when warm won't fire when starting just cranks and cranks like it's got no compression. But when it's cold run's like a champ, go figure. I didn't really know the condition of the engine, and it had a freedom ecu which no one can tune here, so to fix it probably would have been expensive anyway needing a new ecu straight up plus finding and fixing the problem, so I just went 20v.
I got injector o-rings from CBC at Archerfield.
I got a "rebuild kit" from repco. don't remember the price though.
Rebuild kit? Like an engine gasket kit or just for the injectors?
I have a genuine gasket and seal kit with my engine builder, just don't know if it contains the seals for the injectors.
Very cool and entertaining thread Dan. I'm liking the build progress. Which part of Brisbane are you in?
Personally, I like what you've done with the throttles and I'm sure they'll look impressive on your finely detailed blacktop once the engine is done.
What will you do with the old engine?
Hey I'm in Enoggera. Yeah it is growing on me, and will probably look better bolted to the engine.
I'm not to sure at this stage I have a fair bit leftovers and what not, I might keep it and rebuild it. A few people have asked about it, i don't really have anywhere to store anything to might get rid of it later on when everything's in and sorted.
Cool, I had a shoulder reconstruction at the Enoggera barracks hospital last year. If you need a hand with anything on your hachi just hit me up. I'd be happy to take mine for a spin over your way and shoot the shit sometime.
Keep the posts and pics coming. Things are looking good, mate.
Yeah man I'll keep that in mind. Always keen to catch up with other owners!
