4AGE wiring datsun 1200.

Hey first of all sorry if this has been bought up before, have done a search blah blah blah......

Anyway im putting a 4AGE in my 1200 ute and having a little trouble with the wiring, im not sure if its a smallport, bigport etc.


Just need to know what the Pink, Orange and Green wires do, they are on the 4AGE loom
What wires i need to send to the fuel pump and if i need to set up a relay for it.
Has this speaker wire looking thing coming off the loom?? is that fuel pump?


Also this thick white bastard on the 4age loom, does that go to the battery?


Also these suckers coming out of the fuse box thing attached to the positive terminal

First thing... you have a big port (TVIS - This version is shit) = bigport...

Start by identifying the plugs, dizzy , ignitor, injectors etc... They'll need power provided to them.

Fuel pump is via a Circuit opening relay



ECU - needs power to some pins, i'll find a link to a diagram soon and post it up.

Once you have that then you'll have the gauges in the dash to worry about and the alternator, but at a minium there is about 6 things that you need to do to make the car run.

The wires coming out of the fuse box can be used to power the high amp input to the EFI relay... The fuses are powered straight from the battery terminal.
Which in factory configuration is

Ign power to the ecu
High amp power to the fuel pump

Also get yourself a multimeter with a continuity buzzer, and try to track down a datto 1200 wiring diagram and we'll be able to walk you through it.

Good lucky with the build, I'm looking at doing this to my ute early next year but 4agte. How hard is it to make the mounts?

you can use a rwd tvis intake with an adapter to suit a smallport but it would most likely be a bigport, matt im surprised you think they are shit

That looks like a complete mess! It might be worthwhile to break down the whole loom up to the ECU plugs, that way you can identify what's what and make the loom much neater and run it where you want.

It's not that bad, the best advice I an offer is to understand each plug and what it needs. One wire at a time and you'll get there sooner than you realize

Good wiring diagram and pin description here: either under AE86 Japan or USA (I'd guess you have a Japanese AE86 motor, but you can never be sure nowadays. But NFI if the loom matches the engine or has come from something else).

Personally I'd recommend stripping the loom, going through and identifying each wire, where it goes and if it's needed. Then you're 100% of the loom and know what's where if you need to fix anything in future. It seems like a headfuck to start with, but after a couple of hours things start making sense.

You need to download the AE86 Electrical Wiring Diagram.

Normally the engine loom comes out of the firewall on the pass side, any reason you took it out the drivers side?

Pulling a loom apart isn't as hard as it sounds, i just tape a band every 100mm or so while im taking the sheath/tape off it so then it sort of stays together while your playing with it and it doesn't become a birds nest.
Label EVERYTHING and if you do have any plugs (but they look like they have all been cut off!) that you dont know what they are ive got some pages from levin/trueno mag that shows what each one is.
