nothing wrong with using a w5x box but I just want to build a driveline that will handle a turbo beams I want it to handle 300rwks if a w5x can do that ill just chuck one of those in but I don’t think they can handle it like an R154 can

I always thought about using an r150 or r155 trans in one of the cars. I'm pretty doubtful about the gearing as I have a 4.556 final gear but have a 3.5 as a just in case too. My only gripe is the shift quality of the r154. If someone can guarantee magical shifting then I'd give it a go. Until then, I'll be on the hunt for a late model z33 trans or a 4 speed dog box.

Yeah I have 1 spare, might get another haha. They are piece of piss to rebuild as well which is why I only really need one spare to rebuild if the time comes.

300rwkw is approaching the limit of what a w58 gearbox can handle when connected to a 1jz. But, if you keep it in good service, it should be fine bolted to a 3sgte

2nd is where the issue comes in. You're nearly halving the rpm of your engine when you shift. This, unless you have a tractor engine that doesn't care what rpm its at, is annoying. Especially if you have a high boost turbo or big cam motor where changing from the redline in 1st will barely get you in the powerband in 2nd.
