Sounds like a really good starting base.
Hey all,
I've been a lurker for a while but have just recently acquired my sprinter and thought I'd introduce myself. For a long time I've wanted a car to have some fun on the track with and have always loved the AE86 so when the opportunity came up to get one at a reasonable price I had to get it
It's an '83 ADM and has had a fairly hard life but did come with a few nice little things.. Disk brake year end, 4AGE conversion, fog lights, front strut brace, new longchamp knockoffs & a half decent backyard paint job. The rest of it is pretty flogged out but for some rookie track day fun it's an awesome starting point
Sounds like a really good starting base.
That's nice man, allot cleaner than most getting around... what are your plans for it?
If you get in quick we are running a Drift weekend November 3rd - 4th....
Ae86 Drivingclub - Toyota AE86 Car Club where AE86 | KE70 | Toyota 86 / GT86 | Subaru BRZ | Scion FRS owners
I wouldn't be too unhappy with that at all for a first Sprinter! Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. Hit me up if you ever come for a cruise into Brissy.
Beaters are awsome in there own rights, don't worry about perfect show room paint, perfect interior or must have JDM parts.. It is what it is
dose
Thanks everyone
Unfortunately I'll be interstate November 3rd/4th for a wedding so I definitely can't make it, plus I'm still looking for a replacement diff
Matt (85Kai): I sometimes head to Boss Wrecking in Hemmant for parts for my other project so I'll PM you next time
Immediate plans are to replace the clunky diff & busted dash top. The wiring was an utter mess so I've already spent 5 nights after work cleaning most of that up. Next will be fixing a small oil leak the engine has (source currently unknown), getting a bucket seat + harness, maybe a new radiator & then taking it around the track to have some fun/see what breaks.
More long term I want to get a half cage + coilovers + quads & ecu but that will be when the right deal comes up as this will all be a grassroots style build.

Bit of an update. Got my replacement dash back from the flocking guy... fair to say it's a slight improvement
I also pulled the diff carrier to install my 'new' TRD 2-way and found this..
and this..
So I'm now on the hunt for a TRD 4.8 gear set :o/
Small update. Haven't been on here for a while as I've been spending a lot of time on my other project.
Anyway, today I decided to pull my finger out and re-fit the diff & axles but it looks like the d@!#head who sold me my replacement 'zenki' diff has sent me a kouki one. I'll now need to get some 25mm axles to be 100% sure but I've only bolted one axle in and it has a large amount of play. While it will be nice to have the beefier axles I was trying to keep spending to a minimum :/ grr
/vent
Make him send you the right centre?
Too far down the rabbit hole now.. a lot easier to get the shafts
