SOLD! damn that was fast
Selling my 1977 mx32 cressida (first version grill & lights) with rego up to 22 November 2012 and Stock as a rock.
Was my daily for 8 months but now it needs more time and attention than I can spare what with a full time job, private work and another project car.
In Newcastle, NSW
3spd auto
Original gold paint
366,500k kms
Has 30-odd years of service receipts!
Was owned by an old lady in Sydney’s inner west since new then sold to her mechanic last year when she couldn’t drive any more. He had plans but bought a jag instead so sold it to me for $1k.
$800.
Condition: I’m going to be very honest here, it is a bit rough.
The good:
Minimal rust – photos show what I could find
Registered! Transfer rego to your name and save getting a blue slip and other hassles, a big bonus when doing a conversion.
Original radio works but needs contacts cleaned to get rid of dust crackles when adjusting volume
Original 14” wheels are pretty damn clean.
Sweet original NRMA badge
Comes with a bottle of Nulon oil, bottle of flashlube, and a decent ~6 month old battery.
Raw sex appeal comes free of charge
The bad:
Front end is fairly bent from a car park bingle (accidentally accelerated into a barrier instead of reversing... first time automatic driver *facepalm*)
Passenger door reluctant to open as a result.
4M engine is currently running poor, cant get idle sorted – carb needs some attention and I know zero about carbs. Also slight oil leakage but not major.
Tires are deteriorated and most likely not roadworthy.
Electrical gremlin of the shorting kind somewhere in system which drains the battery over the course of a week.
Interior is tired, with tears on shoulders of seats, cracked dash (carpet covered), and brittle plastics.
Paint is original gold and pretty bad (see roof pic)
Needs a battery holder strap
The mx32 is such a good looking car, heaps of panache, my girl loves it and so do I. Was a fulfilling car to drive despite its tired state. It made me drive ten under the limit and enjoy cruising : ) definitely saved my licence haha.
This one is rough but would be a good base for an extensive build which would see most parts refreshed or replaced anyway. Nice strong diff in this one too.
