i would definetly put a trans cooler on that VR......you will fry the trans quickly without it
something like a surf or hilux diesel would get the job done, with plenty of room for spares and equipment
Just thought I'd start a thread about tow cars, what cars/trailers/equipment you guys are using, and how well they do the job. I just bought a VR commodore as a daily/tow car, has anyone used one to tow an 86, and did it struggle? Mines a v6 dunga, with standard auto, abs towbar and lsd. I towed my 86 once with my old mitsu 2.4 litre van,, with a uhaul trailer and it failed miserably.
So yeh I'm just looking for some info, I only paid 400$ for the VR so if it sucks I'll probably get a diesel.

ive got a Mitsubishi Express van with a VN V6 in it. Its awesome!
I recommend it!
Current one is a VX commodore auto povo pack. Goes alright for what it is. Poor old V6 struggles on hills obviously, but its not bad. Thats with a 600kg hire trailer and the corolla.
my mate just bought a vz ss to tow his blown hq , so much debt haha.
im gonna use either my old mans e2200 diesel truck or my rb30et 31

I used to have a vl commo manual it was great to tow with. It was great with hills never struggled, was towing s13 and later on a 13b rx7
rear wheel drive, live axle, cab chassis is a win for towing.
it is also advisable that the tow car has a greater mass than the trailer loaded just for safety
i have a pig vr v6 wagon i wanna setup for towing all i need now is the towball assembly as if its not the wright type you will fuck the cars chassis i have bigger brakes, trans cooler intake and extractors with full exhaust i have had the car with 10 drunk dickheads in it and it still pulled like i was the only person in it great shitbox
the dyno pull to 300rwkw
BT20v is making 300rwkw like i said i would without nitrous so now its time for some spray and see if she will run a 10s or less
