    Default P-plate sleeper sr5 project

so i joined the forum after i bought an old rusted out ae86 levin sr5 as a mate recommended it for
good advice and info for my project. my intentions are to build p plate legal street/track car without
destroying the beautiful image of the ae86.. therefore i want the exterior (minus the addition of some tasteful wheels)
to look as stock as possible. in this thread i will try to keep track of my progress with info and pics. any FRIENDLY advice
will be much appreciated ill keep it updated whenever possible

I thought the sr 5 Ae86 corollas are a USA only model. Either way I like the method of keeping the outside stock too.so put up some pics

so this is the day i bought it.. pretty much stock except wheels, cat-back exhaust, gear knob and steering wheel. no rego since 2010 i think.
has plenty of aftermarket pretty orange metal that just crumbles in your hands :') engine runs nice.. guy reckons it had a mild cam in it - i drove it and
felt about right, after 4500 it had a power boost until about 6000 and idled low. engine in nice running order, gearbox tight, by the feel of it, it hasnt been thrashed too hard. exhaust is amazing - isnt loud but has a nice note to it and has a good unrestricted feel to it. car is at a mates at the moment getting panel beated, fiberglassed and resprayed

plans for the next few weeks - get car in road worthy condition and get it regoed..

the powerplant? i have a 4agze im rebuilding for it

    my N/A 4agze will have:

    - twin 45 webers
    - cam to suit carbs.. maybe around 272 degree with 8 or so mm lift
    - supertech valvetrain (titanium springs, retainers, seats, coated valves, guides )
    - port&polish but no oversize on the intake as the port size on the bigports are..well..big lol
so i want to try and keep whatever air velocity i have before destroying it
    - forged pistons and rods
    -nice tuned extractors
-simple ignition so just an electronic dissy and maybe msd coil
    - adj. cam gear, lightened pulleys and flywheel and other small bits here and there.. whatever i think of along the way haha

my inspiration - found this on google, dont know who owns it but whoever you are.. respect' for keeping the body how it should be.

definitely like the watanabes too. at the moment its between them or rota grids for mine. dad reckons the rotas look nice and that the watanabes have been done to death on 86s and dirty dattos haha

That is probably one of the rarest AE86's, an Aus delivered GTV!
