i took this pic at the mount cootha hill climb. it had a v8 in it and was definately RWD (had some nice sideways action). someone was trying to tell me that it was magnas attempt at the V8 supercars but it never made it. either way it was awesome!
Do you happen to know what kind of V8 it had, Dave?
I remember seeing one on carsales.com, ages ago, converted to RWD and running an RB26. Wicked sleeper.

When I was a storeman, guy told me he had 150kw at the wheels in his magna just from a pod filter and exhaust. This is why I hate magnas.

IMO if they built the magna as a FR it would of done heaps better in the australia market... i mean who wants a large FF apart from honda owners?
i had a TR wagon, 2.6, auto... the worst combonation you could possibly have, the auto would shake the car when in netural and cause problems with just about eveything. dad made me get it serviced by a mitsy dealer and the list of things to fix was quite large, we shure got stung on that one
so in short. these things are getto... would of been cool if they were RWD but if they were they would just be another bogan mobile.
this would be a good base for an S13 IRS conversion tho + 1jz FTW.
imo they are not a bad car if you look after them. but by that i mean it needs to be serviced every ten thousand k's and if the mechanic tells you something needs to be done. don't hesitate. GET IT DONE :p but yeah. holen astras WOW. they are shit.
