made some progress this week. got some bits i needed like flywheel and clutch and turbo manifold, fitted them to the motor and pulled the ca18 out and got the sr mounted in the bay. being able to do it at work really helped with hoist and air tools. pics
stripped and ready to come out
and out
Sr20 mounted on crossmember, sits a bit high but i suppose it needs to be to clear the rack
clutch on
swapped bellhousings from the sr box to my rb20 box so its a straight fit into the car
and box on along with turbo and lines
and BAM!
as suspected the motor sits quite high and will probly foul with the bonnet... dont really wanna mod the mounts or space the crossmember so gonna leave it as is for now. the CA was mounted that way and didnt seem to affect the balance of the car all that much so im gonna try it like this and if it turns out to put the balance out too much, ill look into more modding.
All thats left now is to sort out the intercooler pipping and wiring, get it tuned and its ready to bake some tyres!!!
Looking good mate, it's really coming along. Hopefully the SR just clears the bonnet, from memory the bonnet has a section cut out to clear the rocker covers on the CA so you might be good.
Can't wait to have all the corollas out at drift at once. This is looking epic
Looking good, hopefully I won't take too long to get my garage set up over here so I can finish my SR whip and come play as well![]()

ok so made a bit of progress on this thing. been chasing up silly parts like o2 sensor and adaptors etc taking up time and slowing down the progress. anyway got the exhaust sorted out as i needed to weld on a new bung on it for the sensor, got the intercooler piping done and a few other little things like tidying up the wiring etc... everything seems to be causing problems tho! losing motivation quite quickly now lol!
1st i wasnt happy with engine mounts, so took one side out at a time and modded them
then the bellhousing was hitting the body, so lowered the box and bashed the tunnel some more
then the dump pipe was hitting the body! more bashing (so much bashing i feel bad for the car)
now the radiator outlet for the top hose is on the wrong side, i expected that, but thought i could run the hose from one side to the other but turns out there wont be room... so went and bought an aftermarket alloy s13 rad. even worse! sits too high and is wide as fuck! but i think i got an idea on how to fix that
seriously everything is turning out to be alot more hassle than i thought!
anyway that was me having a whinge, sorry.
on a brighter note, got these (15x10 0 offset)
and fitted some 205,55's on them (smallest size the tyre shop could fit on them)
really gotta fix those guards...
Yeah, its a bit of a squeeze in there, I have managed to get the radiator hose to make it across with an eBay spec ae86 alloy radiator. As for bonnet clearance, it will foul. What I have seen most people do (and I have done myself) is put some goo (I used vaseline) on the top of the rocker cover (at the front of the engine) and then close the bonnet. It will foul, but it will leave the goo on the underside of the bonnet where it touches. Then its a simple enough job to modify the bonnet bracing with an angle grinder. I am using a stock bonnet and there are no outward signs that it has been modified.
How long do you think it will take to have this thing up and running?

yeah bonnet clearance is gonna be an issue as well. the webbing on the inside has already been cut off but i still have my doubts as to whether or not itll fit. car runs, has oil in it. i drive it in and out of the workshop everyday but cant run it for more than a few seconds without coolant in it. did u have to recess the rad support to make room for it? ill post a pic of how it looks now
Looking good mate. Shame it's given you so much trouble but will make it or that more satisfying when it's going again. How much did you drop the mounts, I actually thought the CA would have been a bit higher on the front because of the timing belt cover etc. You will have to get some flares on the rear with those rims...Lol.
