After you cleaned the cap and it ran ok, 20 ks later you say it ran like a soobie, did you check the cap again?
Ok so I think the world is hinting at me that I should have just done a 4age but anyways.
My sr20de has been going for a few weeks now and is being very on/off running right.
First of all my O2 sensor was fouling and causing the car to run rich and backfire so I replaced it and then it was fine for a couple of days.
Then It started to misfire like some sort of fuel ignition cut under heavy load so I replaced the plugs and gapped them I also replaced fuel filters and checked voltage to the pumps to make sure it wasn't a fuelling issue.
After all this I took the dizzy cap off and there was a fair bit of build up so I cleaned it and the car seems to run awesome!! About 20kms later it sounds like a Subaru as it comes on vct and is gutless. Also can watch the fuel gauge go down literally.
I'm about out of ideas I've also checked most earths everything seems fine.
Any help would be appreciated, someone please point out that I'm an idiot and that its something simple that I've over looked.

Yeah it was a little dull again so I cleaned it but it was no better could it be to a point of needing replacing ?
Now that you have mentioned this I did some research and found that if the rotor button is stuffed which it may well be, that it will return to not reading properly very quickly after cleaning causing the misfire and overfueling which it has used about 20L to 100k roughly.
Can this be confirmed by someone ?
cant really cofirm it to be your only issue but yeah, if its leaking oil inside the cap its not a good thing and is a easy thing to fix. replace the o rings and see what happends. i'd check your new o2 sensor aswell, see if its clogged up by how its been running lately. maybe check your cat converter too

I don't think it's leaking oil, the rotor button is just burnt looking so I clean it up and it runs 100% normal and isn't running rich but it turns bad again quickly.
I don't have a cat it blew its insides out while I had the car idling trying to Locate faulty wires near my ecu that problem is sorted now though
