I was initially going to say "why not do it the easy way and just get 1SZ bits", but then I remembered all the ridiculous stuff I've done that made sense at the time... though maybe not quite so much now.

So respect for doing it the other way. It may be a bunch of work, but I hope you get it worked out and running well.

That's really neat, you have done well. How is the weight of the shimless compared to the original 4a bucket and shim together?

This is a clever mod for when insane cam lift is needed.

Does anyone think something like this could work on the 20v head?

If they're 23mm stock, would boring them out to fit the 1sz 28mm buckets be too much? (or something a bit smaller, if it can be found.)

There is no point going to bigger buckets on a 20v, the spark plug tubes need clearancing with big cams as is, any bigger and you would need to start moving the spark plug and exhaust ports.

This is an interesting thread and idea to modify the lifter bores to suit the 1zzfe tappets. I have a modified small port head that was fitted with the shimless 1szfe conversion with big cams. I noticed the 1szfe lifters are higher than the standard 4age ones, I've since removed them for a shim under conversion and there just sitting around in the shed. Can I ask what the rev limit of the engine will be when up and running?

    Hi there,
Any chance to measure up how much higher is the 1SZ-FE lifter compare to stock 4AGE shim over bucket? I'm about to do the solid lifter conversion and was worrying that the 1SZ-FE will bottom out in the lifter bore with the high lift cams.

    Cheers
