and you also see full shit boxes go for 14k.

i know what an intercooler is used for, i sent him a message asking the reason, he was half way through a turbo conversion had all the parts ready to go just had to make the exhaust manifold and intake piping, im guessing he first installed the intercooler, the reason he stopped is he bought an s13 and is building that (reason he is also selling the ae86), and i know building it is a good process, but finding a nice stock one these days is a needle in a haystack even imports but your more likely to get a good condition, but yet yet finding one that has the body work done and the engine mods half way there i just feel if i miss the opportunity ill regret it when im struggling to find one.

Fair enough. I'm always suss on buying another persons painted shell because its hard to tell the prep work behind the paint. You might think your doing yourself a favor but you could end up fixing rust anyway if you get what I mean.

Depending on year really. Check rear arches, top windscreen, under rear bumper and hatch. Check rails for stress cracks near the firewall. Obviously make sure they are straight. Check light reflections over body for repair work. That's a start

like "any" modified car, dont buy this car thinking you won't have problems.
if something goes wrong and you take it to a mechanic, don't expect a easy/cheap fix.

Like Leo said, thing about this car is it isn't exactly cheap to begin with so you want it to be right from the get go. Hence why I said make sure it comes with a rwc part. No point paying top dollar for a modded adm 86 then having to pay more on top to be able to transfer it to your name. I don't know what your finances are like etc but those things would concern me when buying one at that price. A imported ae86 I would spend up to 15k, I'd spend up to 7k on a modded adm.

thanks for those pointers, yeah i would try to make sure that im not going to run into a major problem down the track but i know not guaranteed, sent him a message about the rwc just waiting for him to get back, yeah i see what you mean mate, this being my first 86 any tips on how to make a good deal like you said you would spend 7k, so should i try and maybe bring the price down what would be a good reasonable price? (for that 86 generally speaking)

Also fiberglass bonnet won't pass rwc. So that's one thing to think about. You'll need a bonnet and also you'll have to get it painted too. Most likely will need engineering for engine and brakes. Depending on the size of the rims size they might not pass either. What type of front seats are in it? If they arnt might adr not approved same goes for that. You just need to work out what's needed for rwc that and then push the buyer to supply one or knock down the price in accordance with future dollar costing items you'll be paying for to be able to transfer it into your name.
