Well HI all,
So this is my first 86, i have always wanted one ever since i could drive and have never really looked into buying one, kinda like a window shopper, anway after going through a few corollas (AE71 and KE70) i thought i better get my arse into an AE86.
After months of looking for the right one (that was never found lol) i brought a rolling shell, upon first inspection all looked really good, minimal rust, straight..ish and the perfect base for a nice resto build. the offerd clams were shelled out and i was prod as punch.
So here is where the PAIN begins, get my new baby into the shed ready to start stripping and gettin some small bog/welding done, getting through it and start finding rust, "ok not too bad, i can deal with this" then more and more and more rust, all of which very well hidden by some doddgy alloy plates filled with some kind of silicone.
here's some pics:
Prep work:
Plans:
well i have made the decision to not street it, track dedicated car.
Body/chassis:
Sand, cut an shut the wholes i can, bog a few of the minor imperfections out.
weld in some additional bracing, seem weld engine bay and cabin and full cage.
just for now i have purchased a clean ADM front bar from Lukey and throw a lip on it, a duck wing, side skirts that came with (unsure of brand etc) and whatever rear bar i can find lol.
colour, looking at a dark grey atm with a few black highlights.
Engine/driveline:
It came with a standard 16v BP and a T50, will just throw some carbs and big cams with the supporting mods on it and away we go.
have a one piece for T50-S series so that will go in until i smash all the S series diff i have laying around, T series after that.
Suspension/handling:
BC Gold coilovers F/R, Adjustable LCA's, AJPS panhard rod, AJPS bush kit, signiture swaybars, not sure what steering arms yet?? ADM brakes (For now) and a heap of other new shit.
Still a very long way to go!!!
