I would rather spend that three grand on a diff (hi-lux or other) i knew would not FAIL when i really needed it, than spend nearly the same amount on a diff (t- series) that is not that much stronger than an s-series in my opinion.
The fact is that when you pay $3000 or even $2000 for a diff for your sprinter, which weighs approximately 1000 kgs, you should not have to worry about breaking axles every time you sneeze with your foot on the loud pedal, and as for weight and size there are 86s out there being rallied, drifted and dragged equipped with hi-lux diffs, so there really is no argument except for one STRENGTH of which the hi-lux diff has plenty.
As for price i have seen hi-lux diffs for sale last week on here for $250 and yeah it is already gone.
