Upol cut/polish is good
Painted the quarter window louvres or whatever the shit they are called, didn't want to muck around bending clips for hours to get them off so I used covers of magazines to slide under them, beats masking..
t'was too dark to get a photo after I'd finished so Ill get it up later
Some of my bog work, ready for paint.... maybe not on the second photo -
Also gave her a quick polish up, came up not too bad. Will hit it with 1500 wet sand eventually and another cut and polish. Anyone recommend a good cut and polish for clear coat paints? This is 2pac by the way

Best finish I have had with buffing 2-pac was using Juice X-Cut, expensive but well worth it.
Did you wetsand before? I'm not sure how much paint to take off
Depends on your off the gun finish, is it dull or is it rough?
I didn't paint the body. Its was pretty dull until I gave it a quick buff with cleaner wax. Its still rough to the hand and orange peely in a lot of places. Should I get one of those paint depth measures?
If it's peel then you would need to rub it with 1500 then 2000 then buff it, watch out for corners as they will cut through very quick, maybe try give one panel a light rub and buff to see how that comes out.
How bad is the peel? Is it rough that you can feel it with your hand?
Also does it have clear coat on it? If so then you should be able to give it a good rub down without going too far.
So I shouldn't use 1000 at all? Peeling isn't too bad, definitely can't feel the texture. I think it has a clear coat but I can't be sure. I thought all 2 pack paint had a clear coat?
There are some paint runs in places so I guess it must be a pretty thick coat. Is clear coat hard to correct if you burn through it?
Just got back from Euro trip so keen to work on this old girl again. I am about a week of solid work away to doing the most fun part, building ae86 lego. Cleaning all the nuts and bolts in the following days, will just soak them in vinegar and then coke to see how clean they get. I also made a home made media tumbler, finely broken up glass in a milo tin with a dash of degreaser - this worked pretty well for rusted SSR wheel nuts without the vinegar and coke step. Also apparently you can soak bolts afterwards in phosphoric acid to recreate the oiled finish.. I'll see how it goes
