    Default 5K 5SP KE70 Cheap Modifications

Now before you all blast me and tell me I can't make power without spending lots of money I'm just looking for some cheap options on how to open the car up a little. Obviously first place to start would be modifying the intake and the exhaust. Now I had a look at the exhaust system hoping to bash out the cat, but there seems to just be 2 mufflers throughout the whole system? I'm on a really low budget atm and am thinking about chopping the rear muffler off anyone done this before? feedback on it? Later on down the track I will get a catback and maybe some extractors, what size piping would be the best to use? Intake wise I was thinking to just get a high flow carbi filter, what do most of you guys have on your KE70's? Keep in mind It's had a 5K engine swap.

I just feel the car needs to be opened up a little more. My second and first car is a 1995 Honda Prelude VTi-R and I remember going from stock, to a cold air intake + pod, and then getting a 2.5" straight through exhaust and it just felt soo much more rev happy and felt good to rev out and this is what I want from the KE70, but again on a very low budget and would like to know all the cheap methods on modding it just to open the engine up a bit cause atm It feels bad revving it out and I remember my prelude was the same it didn't feel that great to thrash it in stock form, but as soon as I put an intake and exhaust on it it felt much better. At the moment it's pointless revving it past 5krpm which makes sense considering it stops making power at 5250rpm, I'm curious as to what they actually rev out to cause I don't have a tacho and revving it past 5k seems pointless as it's just noise. I'm assuming an intake and exhaust should open it up and give the engine a better feel?

New to the forum so please no abuse sorry if I don't make much sense :/

Your prelude is/was a much more modern motor and also higher capacity...in such it responded to those "cheap" modifications a lot better than a 5k is going too...

By all means go ahead with the intake/exhaust mods, but don't expect huge results...it'll most likely be barely noticeable...5k's are old motors now, most would be approaching time for a freshen up

Also unless your 5k is fuel injected it won't have a cat.
Make sure timing is good and give it a good service. Oil plugs dizzy points etc the works. At best a stock 5k will perform worse then a 4ac stock so if you want it to feel a bit better get some extractors and a 2 inch exhaust.
Even those wont be that cheap.
Best to just save up for a 4age as the 5k will never feel as nice without blowing wads of cash on it.
As the old saying goes cheap, reliable, fast. Choose two
