Thanks man I'm slowly getting to the point that I'm happy with it, like I said lots of picky perfectionist things that need sorting out...

I bought an oil cooler off a guy in queensland, it's got all Earls fittings and braided lines etc and a 15 Row cooler. It looks to be pretty decent quality in general at first look, I'm sure it'll be more than enough for the old 4A...

I need to get onto old mate you suggested for the rotors etc as well... Needs a new set of front brakes badly.

Awesome, sure it will serve well.

I run Project MU pure plus front rotors on mine, maybe ask him about them for the fronts. They will hold up to the punishment at Barbs just nicely, best rotors on the market for the standard brake package on the 86's.

Yeah, an oil cooler is an oil cooler in my opinion, it's the hoses and fittings that make fitting them expensive.

I'll send GLS Rallysport a message about the rotors, would be good to get something sorted. I have always loved Project MU stuff, seriously nice stuff...

Yeah I have had Project MU in many of my cars and it always performs very well. At Barbs my AE86 never failed to stop lap after lap with no brake fade which is surprising considering they are only the same size rotors as standard. I think a set of Pure Plus rotors will set you back around $400 a set its the pads that can get expensive.

Hmmm so having just had a chat to the guys at GLS they recommended using a set of QFM A1RM Pads with DBA Slotted rotors... I've always run DBA stuff before and apparently the QFM A1RM Pads are very effective as a daily / track pad. I have ordered a set so I'll see how I like them, total cost of about $350 which was pretty cheap in my opinion...

Yeah I figured taking their advice was a wise move, they said for the prive the Project MU stuff is amazing, but the performance gain it's not worth it for a daily driven vehicle due to higher wear rates etc.

I was expecting at least 500 bucks for rotors and pads so I'm stocked... More money to spend on other goodies now...

Depending on the dampers and tyres I would use between 4.5-7kg/mm on the front and anywhere from standard to 5/6kg/mm on the rear for grip. I wouldn't ever run a higher rate on the rear though, would just create way too much oversteer.

    Thanks man,

So as a start potentially 6kg Front and 5kg Rear rates and work from there?

Brand wise, the the TRD springs seem to be available readily and in variable rates. Is there a more cost effective brand / approach?

    Cheers,

    Joe

Just received my super technical suction cap phone holder and cigarette lighter phone charger and purchased a 10hz Bluetooth GPS Receiver to run RaceChrono for some form of accurate lap timing / analysis gear that isn't mind blowingly expensive.

I've heard a lot of good things about these kind of setups and it provides a lot of interesting information which will hopefully help get my lap times down a bit from a driving perspective.

Getting all geared up to isntall the Oil Cooler and Filter Relocation Kit and new Ventilated / Slotted front rotors and QFM Track / Street pads.

The next track day can't come soon enough!
