Correct, beams runs a AFM where as running B/T quads dont, however S/T quads do. Best bet is just run an adaptronic ecu with a loom to suit.
Basically iv found a heap of mixed info, so ill ask straight out
So I understand you can run Blacktop ITBs on the BEAMS 3S-GE, but surely you couldnt run it without an aftermarket ECU? Im pretty sure the 3S-GE has an AFM where as the Blacktop doesnt?
If its any help engine in question is an RS200 3S-GE
Cheers, James

Yeah just as I though, basically id just prefer to run ITBs and trumpets on the 3S-GE with the standard computer but didnt think that was an going to be an option
With nissans you can run a piggy-back chip called a nistune to program the factory computer however im not sure if this sort of option is available for BEAMS?
you will need an ecu, which will give you cheap power anyway

Just because it uses an afm doesn't stop you from running ITBs with a plenum...
Didn't TRD make ITBs for the RS200 back when it was new? What ecu did it use then?
they chose a motec to run the engine with the hi comp pistons and big cams etc
Bit of a bump, decided to go aftermarket ECU, what would you suggest? (BT quads w/ trumpets) also prices if you have them
Power FC would be my ideal option but I don't think you can program the SXE/RS200 one to run a MAP?
All info appreciate, cheers
Pfc is a plug and play option. All of them will use all factory sensors. For nissans you can get l-(afm) and d-jetronic(map) models but you can't run map on an l-jet and vice versa. I don't know if the 3s has a d-jet option. You might be able it jerry-rig a gt4 pfc but we're getting far away from plug in ecu.
You can get an adaptronic e420d for a little less than a grand, e440 select for a little over a grand. Halted sprint 500 at around a grand, ps1000 was like 1600 off memory, vipec v44 at ~1200 and v88 at 1800. There is also a lower level ecu at 1200 (link g4atom) which will also do the job sufficiently.
You should be able to get the units a little cheaper if you look around as I'm quoting prices straight off a retail store.
And after all that, go talk to your tuner and see what he wants. Probably the middle range as I don't remember if the haltec supported 4d tuning on the sprint, I'd think it does, I know the adaptronic and link/vipecs do. And you're probably best off using it. Hell, I've got a $500 megasquirt that I'm gonna have to tune myself because no one here probably tunes it. Real easy to figure out though.
