    Default recomended front Suspension mods

so first up my intentions are for a ride that is great handling 86 that turns well I am not intending to drift my 86 just mostly cruising on the weekends and the one or 2 occasional track days nothing too hectic at this stage. so after looking at all the after markets parts for suspension and linkages I am unsure what I should do with mine.. I have already decided on the shock works coil over suspension kit. so basically I am asking if it is worth my while upgrading the following parts. Swaybars, Lower control arms, Tension control rods, steering knuckles, rear control arms, Traction Brackets and RCA's? .......... Or what would u recommend that I upgrade.? at this stage I will be doing the steering knuckles other than that I am at a little bit of a loss of what to do. Cheers Heath

RCA's will be required if you lower the car by any significant amount but remember that the rear roll centre cannot be adjusted by very much so you are pretty much limited height wise by rear roll centre height.
I have spent years getting my tarmac rally car handling how I like it and that involved fitting everything that was recommended to me, taking it all off again and then re-fitting it all one thing at a time...
I'm now using 13" wheels with the panhard rod parallel to the ground for the rear ride height and the front is adjusted to suit.
190lb front and 160lb rear springs (AE86 diameter not coilover)
    TRD standard length front inserts
    TRD rear dampers
Standard AE86 sway bars front / rear
    Prothane bushings throughout
    Power steering knuckles.

It works really nicely, great balance but with plenty of grip. But that's just how I like it.......

Panhard rod, renew all bushes and shockworks, pwr str arms last. Unless your going super low don't worry about the other stuff. Get some decent rims and tyres.

If it were mine I'd do it all,

    Coilovers with camber plates
    RCA's
    PS arms
    New rack ends
    New tie Rods
Xt130 LCA or adjustable (not necessary, but better option)
    Adj castor rods.
    Swaybars bushes and links min.

If your happy with factory castor you can keep factory items.

Rear - other the springs /shocks or coil overs
    Adjustable panhard is a must.

    And Polly bush everything

Agree with this but add to the list a proper wheel alignment too and a strut brace and some sort of rear brace between the suspension towers to stop chassis flex.

When you put in new Castor rod bushes pull the rods to full adjustment i.e wheels pulled towards the front of the car. May have to trim the metal edge of your gaud to stop rubbing when cornering but the castor makes for more front end grip.

Strut braces make a huge difference...
I don't care what anyone says, they work.
