I completed a 4AGE 16v blue top engine conversion into my AUS AE86 a few months ago but never quite got it running properly. I've been pretty busy since then, but now that I've got more time on my hands I'd like to get it running properly.
The issue I'm having is random dead spots down low on the rev range at low throttle application and slow response from about 4k. This only seems to happen under load, not when revved stationary. I've checked the TPS and timing and both seem to be correct. Even tried them a bit either way, but no good. I've re-checked major sensor wiring and all seem to be correct.
Is anyone who's done a few 4ages over their time able to come and help me try and diagnose the problem?

TVIS still connected??
Clean the thermostat housing and all that shizz on the throttle body, of its been sitting a while that shit gets full of corrosion and sediment, sounds like what was wrong with mine.. youl need a new gasket but. But they're easy to make
Vivas, do you mean the Auxiliary Air Valve that has the water lines running to it on the throttle body?
I know this is not operating correctly. It doesn't fully close off when up to temp. However the other day I blocked the small intake hole once up to temp and it din't seem to make much difference. The underlying problem was still there. But I've got another AAV here, I'll give it a good clean and see if it's any better.
I wouldn't of thought that a fault with the AAC would be your problem as generally when they are on the way out it causes a fluctuation in idle speed.
I'd suggest checking the tps with a feeler gauge, I found an article on an ae93 gti site on how to do this, but I'm not in front of a computer at the moment. Have you posted anything on ae86 bromance lifestyle Facebook club? Cheers Asher
Also if the tps was disconnected the ecu would go into limp mode for those playing at home.
