Default Something different... Holden VT electrical monster, not a gremlin but a monster

Jumped in my vt last night to go to servo, started fine, drove fine, turned it off went into servo for 2mins, came out and car wouldn't start. Acting as though had a loose batt terminal. Checked that and all was fine, went to start again same thing, throws starter solenoid, but wont turn over. In addition to this, noticed fuel pump relay tripping out, dash lights were very dim, but came back after about 30 seconds. Swapped relays out, checked fuses, no change.

Had a mate come down with jump pack, hooked it up, and same thing, removed starter trigger, and tried to trigger manually, it didn't want to turn engine over, persisted till managed to get it to turn over, drove car home, headlights, dash lights, door locks, everything operational. Left it for the night.

today, tried to start it the same way, and couldn't get it to start, so proceeded doing the following....

Added 5 new ground straps and cleaned originals (no change)
Cleaned batt terminals, then replaced batt terminals
    Charged battery
Checked BCM signal to ecm (good)
    Bench tested starter (seems ok)
Did current draw test (inconclusive, sometimes 2v drop at starter motor, sometime 8v drop, sometimes no drop)

but there was no changes what so ever, and I still have the following issues

Headlights short out (flick on, and turn off immediately, regardless of key position, but with reds on seems to trigger indicators aswell, yet to test indicators)
wipers short out (relays triggers, start to move, and turns off)
dash goes dim after tyring to start (via key and manually)
abs module trips (relay inside going off for about 30sec, 2 clicks per sec)
fuel pump relay trips (seems to be related to dash lights, clicking stops, dash lights are back, so pulled FP relay, still does it)
starter will not turn engine over (even via manual trigger) just throws solenoid and shorts everything out

Removed starter relay, fuel pump relay, and engine cont. relay (assuming engine control/ecm/ecu relay) disconnected abs module, and headlights stay on, till I manually trigger starter.

So I have come to the conclusion I have a short in the starter, or in the main power to starter. But why have I not blown 1 fuse, in any circuit?

Driving me nuts, never seen anything like it, I just want it fixed so I can sell it and buy a suby to skid

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like a bad ground to me,have zero experience with Holden's but where's bcm located? Could it have gotten wet?

Its under the drivers side of the dash, I know these to be a common fault, but never having seen one faulty, its hard to determine. I did disconnect the bcm, and tried to start it but no change lol

supposedly its the BCM, so going to swap BCM, PCM and keys tomorrow, hopefully it works. All this on a car that doesn't skid, pointless.

Yeah dude, it's not a BCM problem and I very seriously would not be going to the effort and expense of changing a BCM, PCM and keyheads.

I would be investigating the main b+ wiring closely. Especially at the back of the alternator, it's a common place for it to burn out, if it 's shorted there then you're going to be having some pretty serious issues. Check the ignition barrel as well, have the battery checked as if that's dropped a cell then again, issues. Whether battery failure is a cause or a symptom or even a factor though...

Yeah, bottom line, diagnosis by an auto elec would probably be a good idea. Usually they'll be able to work out what the cause is quite quickly especially if it's an issue like yours where it's quite obviously a b+ circuit or main ground issue, possibly with a pinch of ignition switch in there too.
You can have any brew you want... as long as it's a Datsun / Corolla / What is that?

yeah didn't bother with the bcm, it is battery related. Battery is fucked, had been holding charge, but not anymore. Added a new starter cable today, made starting with jump pack a lot easier.

Left running for a while, hit high beams and killed it (assuming too much load for alternator alone to handle?). Will check alternator wiring tomorrow, and try and get a decent battery in it.

Fucking heap of shit, don't have these issues with a Toyota or a suby.
