    Default Ke70 Electrical problem!

So I've got a ke70 with a 16v 4age in it out of an ae82 corolla and I've had the car running fine in the past but I haven't started it for quite some time as I've been busy fixing rust and working on my car, so today I went to start it put the battery in I had charged the battery full befor I did this, went to start it and nothing!

Fuel pump works its got fuel at the fuel filter so there's fuel enough to start it,

    *I've replaced all the leads,
*I've cleaned the carbon build up off the rotor arm and the points in the dizzy cap,
*Spark plugs are brand new ive only started it a few times since putting them in,
*I checked all fuses! And they're all good

And in the process of trying to start it, it finally started to turn over but not fire? It was on the cusp!! Of running but just wouldn't go!!

So I've gotta ask why is this?
I've had the car running before, I had my mates dad help me put the engine loom in and get it running as he's done it plenty of times before but I'm thinking something's wrong?

And after trying a different coil nothing! But now this fuse relay thing makes a strange poping and buzzing sound? Any ideas as to what I've done? I'm guessing I've shorted it out in the process of doing something but I've put everything back to how I had it when it was starting and running fine?

prob important to note that I'm not the best with car electrics and there problems, but I'm all for learning!!

So Any help on this would be great thanks?

sounds like that relay has to go, but it sounds to me like the firing issue is power to the coil related

What made it start to turn over, initially you said there was nothing .. Have you rechecked the battery condition & or swapped it out with another Battery, if cranking speeds are low most cars will not start & have you got all the earth & power cables on the battery & are they clean & tight too ..

K so I think there was more than one problem! But it's still not working right!

I replaced my starter motor and this new one turns over all the time so that's fine now!

I replaced the dizzy cap with a brand new one and the rotor arm to

I've got power at the coil

I've got good connections on the battery and that reads 12.67?

And it's earthed of the body and the motor!

It starts idols for a second then dies then it won't start the starter motor still works tho it just don't fire I've got spark from the dizzy to

Also I took of my pod filter thing and it worked a bit better? But it's still not holding idol!

Sounds like it might be fuel pressure to me? What pump setup are you using?

K so I think the problem with my car is timing!

A mate of mine who is a mechanic was giving me a hand to do a few things before I put the motor in my car and we changed the timing belt as you do, he took me through the process of how to do it as Im a bit of a noob! But it's all pretty straight forward!

And when we were replacing the cam seals he said why don't we paint your cam gears I said yeah sure go nuts any way we put everything back together, and everything was fine!

Put the motor in got it running I drive it a few times etc etc, but now that it won't start it's got me to think that something's wrong so I go to check the timing after looking at my car for a wile I work out what's gone wrong!!

When we set the timing the first time we set it to the marks on the inside of the cam gears as there is a little raised bump thinking that it is the correct mark! But in fact the proper mark is on the cam tooth!! So I marked that and have lined everything up ready to go but I can't get the crank shaft bolt un done has any one got any tips for undoing it?

Long story short don't let your "mates" touch your car!!!
