you can swap the head right over, when the head comes off you can see what pistons are in there. Make sure you use the gasket to suit the head, not the block.
so I spun a bottom end bearing on number one cylinder in my ke70 20v st. I have another engine here which I got as part swap with some other bits and pieces last year, its a 16v and the guy I got it off said it was or used to be supercharged. My question is can I swap my 20v head straight over to the 16v block and go revving again or is their more to it and the second part of my question is how can I tell if it really is a gze? ps the rocker covers and sprayed silly colors and I cant tell the original color.

Sooo iv got one rusty cylinder (not tooo bad) and pistons with a dome downwards. So question one can the cylinder be honed out and can I change pistons over it do I need new ones with new rings?
New rings aren't that much if the engine is out and the head off already.

Oh I agree for sure. I just didn't think it'd be just a set of rings and hone and I'd be all good. So just to be clear the only difference between a gze and n/a is a head gasket and low comp pistons ?
you will have a pretty low compression if you just swap the head, it will run like crap.
I have another suggestion for you and it's not because I am trying to sell you something- I can cheaply supply new 20v pistons and rings, in either of the three stock sizes or +0.5mm. This way you get the best of both worlds.

You also have the 20v vs 16v to contend with. Is it a bigport gze or smallport?
Im not 100% but I'm pretty sure the gzes run a smallport/20v crank and the same as silvertop rods regardless of bigport or smallport.
The knock sensor will need to be swapped from the 20v block. The gze ones are highly sort after too.
Get a trd head gasket, bumps up the comp a little, and run your 20v pistons.
Personally I'd be polishing your crank , new rings / bearings on your old block. With machine work plus gaskets looking at around $1200

Or just buy the $700 st 20v in the sales section, sell off the head and quads and use the bottom end

If you've got slightly dished pistons then I'd guess you have an 8.0 CR bottom end. That will not be exciting NA.
So yes, your parts could well bolt together, but I'd either get a 20V (or at least smallport) bottom end or use the bits you have and add a turbo.
