Default Feature: So over people hating on "stance"

Last night (after downing a few double shots of Vodka) I posted a facebook status:

“So over people hating on “stanced” cars. Get over it! It’s how cars are meant to look if our roads were perfectly smooth!”

It opened a can of worms (as expected!). With 158 replies, some fantastic, some pathetic, some hilarious and much butt hurt.

automotive buzz word of the month....

ive seen a few of these stance status things lately on fbook (incl the video of the lexus) so you timed to well to get max exposure - kudos

    but to be honest,

it is fashion (the word has only been used for a few years), it is the same as the 'rice' trend that came and went.... it is posing and it will soon (hopefully) go away

you could just replace the word 'stance' in your article with 'rice' and rewind a decade....same deal....

the people that extoll the virtues of 'stancing' a car just look retarded, people who get massive e-fame from taking one of the lock rings out of their coilovers and getting wheels that are way to big and ultimately aimless and having a 232 page build thread and first drive get defected. I agree there is probably more dangerous cars on the road, but those people are either poor, lazy or stupid. 'Genuine' car enthusiasts should know better than to go out of their way to make a car ride and handle worse for attention....and the negative comments they attract stem from building a car that stands out...

I don't actually hate it as such, its just that in this country you cant get away with it, the car is defected instantly.

My main gripe though is that the dudes who do it think that is the most amazing thing in the world and its their 'lifestyle' and make a facebook page about it AND a blog AND have a million page build thread.

All this fuss about a car with semi wide (usually) knockoff wheels and cheap china coilovers that has no real world ability, just a car glorified by photos taken with a DSLR camera then put on forums and blogs for internet high fives when in reality the vehicle isnt really useful as a car anymore because it cant be driven anywhere due to it getting beached or defected.

Then the even worst part is people buying car trend/popular/old japanese car and putting wheels that arent even that much wider than normal (15x8 0 offset) and often a shitty steel design, lowering the car and inch and THINKING that they are all stanced out and shit because they got a few gay stickers on the rear window and a train subway hangring. All their mates pat them on the back and think they are some part of cool club that really has absolutely no idea they just want to fit in to a current trend. Then they sell the car in 6 months when it gets defected or people stop giving a shit about it on the internet.

Stance your car out, i don't care, but dont pat yourself on the back and parade around on your high horse jumping at the gun to call anyone a 'hater' because you built a shitty car with china and copy parts, just drive the damn thing to work and to the shop until you get defected then you will see its not worth it because no one cares. People actually appreciate a clean, tastfully modified car on good condition that has proper flush fitting wheels of good quality.

Im sick of semi controversial facebook statuses 'whats better ford or holden? hilux or navara? just bullshit to spark debate of peoples minds you will never change (or whatever the aim is)

and anyone who doesnt agree is instantly branded a hater - no one will ever agree and its better to have an strong opinion (be it positive or negative) than feign interest in every next fad and sit on the fence

Lock thread - this is a driving club not a posing club

    Sex spec anyone?

I gotta admit i got a chuckle out of a couple of facebook statuses relating to WTF my tyres are bald after only 3000kms and you see stupid amounts of camber.

I see it as a good thing for Tyre manufacturers and also consider it #stupid tax for the owners.
