    Or you could make one out of a sheet of thick alloy or MDF wood.

    Not hard to make, I don't see why it would be nesiscary in an ae86 unless doing some serious off roading

    I have a tendency to hit ripple strips, curbs, the odd road kill etc.

    if you have lowered your engine or have a beams or sr the sump sits lower than the xmember, its a necessity,

    i touched my sump twice on my first drive

    didnt drive it again until it had a bash plate

    it has a lot of marks on it

    Oh yea, well that is a very good point. I'd make it out of 5-6mm alluminium then or some 3mm mild steel sheet
