Hey guys got a problem with a mates smallport motor. basically we got a host of problems including; injector 2 and 3 pulsing but not changing engine tone/stalling when disconnected, we manually pulsed both injectors which cleared up injector number 3 but didnt clean up 2. the timing is out by literally 1/4 of a tooth, the engine is backfiring through the intake, it sounds like its running on three cylinders but doesnt blow any form of smoke. theres a knock that doesnt sound like its in the bottom end due to its speed of knock (cam turns twice to one crank rotation) the shims havent been spat, nor are they losing contact with the cam, theres a pressure release as intake valve for cylinder 4 opens up. it drives pretty smooth considering but wont idle. we had an exhaust leak which we fixed today before the o2 sensor, it has new spark plugs, a good new dizzy cap, the engine is less than 25000km's old. we just cant work out what in the head would cause a knock. tomorrow were going to do a compression check and try to work out a way to leak test the head... basically just asking for some opinions... please note, this has all happened in the past 32 hours, we've been fiddling with it since.
