Might be able to sell up my lot and pay off the mortgage.
Hi All,
Was thinking the other day that AE86's are on the way up in value, with some people asking over $25k now for a nice example.
What is the most expensive AE86 do you know of that has sold in Australia? and why was it worth that much (or at least why did the buyer think it was worth that much)?
Steve.

im pretty sure Seamus sold his for a good price. not 100% on sale price but he had it listed for high teens and must have got close to that. that car was definitely worth it too. if your not familiar with it search user name 70XIN
medwins 3sgte car back in the day was up for sale for 20 something thousand and didnt sell.
alot of clean jdm examples seem to hover around the 15k mark and seem to be able to get it with the right buyer. but there are always some people asking close to 30k which i have not seen one sell for that much. restored black limiteds are more expensive than that from carland but im pretty sure they wont sell to export either.

I would be prepared to pay 15k for a good unmolested JDM one, 18k would be like max and it would have to be like showroom condition
All very well to ask 25k for one in aus whether someone pays that much is another question... The black ltd on carsales has been for sale for years at 27k...but for 25k you could import a carland ae86 or another 1 owner unmolested car from japan..However tube garage ae86s are upwards of 30k. And an intial d replica from carland will set you back over 50k...
Its funny Americans have a heart attack when a gts is advertised for 7k.. if only they knew what we pay.
MOPAR or no car!
Anyone know how much damo's car sold for? It was that mint kouki trueno with the toms cluster and blacktop 20v.
Personally, a mint unrestored vehicle is worth more then a restored car.
This is going on say for example, that one owner ae86 on speedhunters that was driven from the dealership to a underground workshop and never used again, still has plastic on everything etc is worth more then any other ae86 in the world to me.
But I'd still rather one with lowish k's that could be driven and enjoyed rather then shelved and looked at
damo's was the closest thing to showroom condition in aus imo. i dont know what it was sold for but damo was looking for around 15k. pretty sure the guy that bought it stripped alot of the good parts off it and now its not in that great of shape. such a shame.

Bargain.
MOPAR or no car!
Damo's one was a perfect buy.
Now That was tastefully built.
I would pay upto 25k for one like that.

at 15k i would say it would be a good investment. weekend driver and kept in the garage all year round. you would never lose money on it. the only problem is generally corolla people are cheap dodgy young adults. it would take a long time to find the right buyer.
