What does your ID plate say?
My AE71 Panelvan was S from factory. ID plate says so too....
I am running a T series (RA60) in mine, but I had leaf mounts welded on......
Hiddy hoe there,
I was talking to a guy, and he swears that AE71 Pano had a factory T series diff option.
I was like, hmm, really.....But was thinking, nah its and S series mate.
So anyway, in a garage screwing around with the sedan, peered over at the AE71 Pano...
Looked under the arse end, no removable plate like BW.
Counted the bolts and it has a 10 bolt carrier.
So now i'm in 2 minds.
Are all S series 8 bolt>? including leaf sprung Pano.
Or was old mate for real? Is there a 10 bolt carrier T series option available for Pano?
Set me straight here please.

Yeah plate isn't going to mean much here.
This thing has been around the traps.
I have been told by previous owner who did the initial 20V turbo build that the entire assembly was swapped out for a BW wagon as S series was unable to be obtained at the time.
The chick that owned it after said it was a stock diff?
She went on to say she blew the diff up and got a diff store to repair.
She also said she had a Hilux diff she was going to modify and install, but never got around to it before she sold it off.
Lets forget about the history
Do all S series have an 8 bolt carrier?
Is older Liteace van 10 bolt a T series? (I'm leaning towards this)

The Liteaces I've seen have been E series. Almost identical to a T series externally. 10 bolt, but around a slightly larger radius (2mm or so). Slightly larger crown and bigger axles, but none of that you can see from the outside.
^^ Hen, they are pretty differant looking I thought. I had the Liteace E series before I put the T series in.
Yes, they are 10 bolt. Its much bigger than a T series.... T series has 6.7" c&p and E series has a 7.1" gears..... So, it does visually look much bigger

???????
Um, your question was if they had factory T series. Thats exactly the info the plate will tell you, regardless of what traps its been around

Sorry, Rephrase -
Did Toyota offer AE71 Pano with T series fitted from factory?
Mine id plate is "S", but current thing is unknown.
I will get some pictures on weekend.
Did you have to modify the Hiace -TYPO- Liteace E series much to install it?
Circuit racer I was talking to (different guy then above reference) explained to me that Liteace diff is a common straight forward swap into KE55.
I'm now wondering if this also applies to KE/AE71 Pano./
Last edited by Futo_gt86; 4th April 2014 at 06:59 PM. Reason: Liteace E sereis not Hiace typo
E series is a direct bolt in. No mods required.... They are not from a HiAce. They are from a LITEACE
Note: My T series I converted to leaf mounts looks like a factory item........ But its not.
I wouldn't be making judgement of your diff just cause it "looks factory"
