I have an 87 corolla and just recently the ac control unit has broken on me. Just the air mixer lever is not working properly. Something broke or snapped off. I took the dash apart. Screws everywhere. I hope i can reassemble it correctly...
Anyway, once i got it apart i found that the lever that controls the air mixer was not connected to its pivot point on the bottom. I found the clip that appears to go on the bottom, but the cables are so hard to move that if i put it back on it just comes right back apart.
So i need to remove the cables from the assembly so i can take it out of the car. I want to try to lube the cables or replace them if i can. Any thoughts on that?
Also my main issue is, i cannot get the cables disconnected from the assembly!
Ive tried and tried. I pulled on then, pried on them, used a screw driver in the bottom to try to lift the tab (atleast it appears to be a tab) but i cannot make the cables come off the assembly. Ive been rough, but not so rough that i will break it, because god if i break it..
I really need help getting the cables off the assembly please. I am posting a picture of what im looking at. The white square blocks are what ive been trying to get off, since the cable runs through it, but perhaps thats the wrong thing to do?
My picture is too large to upload to the website, so im going to post a link to photo bucket.
