there are 2 diff types of steering rack retainer brackets. check you have the correct size ones for your rack
Ok so putting car back together and have a question
On the steering rack there are 2 brackets that hold it to the sub frame. When l but the brackets on there seems to be a gap between bracket and the subframe on the firewall side is this right as it dosent seem so?
Also the 4 bolts 3 are on top and 1 below but what length are they and what do they look like if anyone has pics please

Pretty sure I do as never had any other racks to mix them up. But still space and need to know what bolts look like

There is a small 'hook' on the crossmember that the protrusion on the bracket needs to go into and when you do this the other end of the bracket will be forced upwards.
It is quite tricky to compress the rubber enough to get the bolt started and I use a longer bolt as a temporary fit to get the rubber compressed, after it is compressed
it is easy to remove the longer bolt and fit the correct one.
Be very careful of cross threading the bolts.
Yeah got that but even if I do bolt it the bracket still is 10-15mm off touching the subframe on the firewall side

If you are trying to use an old type superpro bush to do it up, it wont work. I think dave at AJPS has helped superpro refine their bushes as there was aknown issue with the older sets, they never fitted anything, just the circular one worked. The bigger one was impossible to do up, which is the drivers side one.

Try putting a g clamp on it instead of threading a bolt to squash the bush a bit. They normally need to compress slightly to fit properly. It'll be easy without the engine in place
