CAR - ke70
MOTOR - ke70 running silvertop itbs and a microtech Lt-10s
USE - daily
PROBLEM/QUESTION - engine is misfiring and running rich
OCCURS/STARTED WHEN - bought a ke70 with 4age about a month back and it turned out the wiring was a mess, so me and a friend who has been and auto electrician for the last 15 years, rewired a new custom loom, rewired the CD player, the hid lights and alarm, and when we had finished it all off and started it up it had a misfire, and was running very rich. we bought new spark plugs and spark leads, but the misfire was still there, my friend had these special adapters which you put between your spark plugs and ignition leads which have a light in them so you can see if it has a any of the cylinders aren't getting spark and they all were getting spark, he also tested the injector to make sure all of them had power and they did, so I'm really confused and need some help or pointers to what could cause the miss, any help or advice would be appreciated

Hi mate,
How many wires are you running on your TPS? they need to be flipped I'm pretty sure ? correct me if i am wrong.
I had a similar issue with mine when i first done my conversion, in the end i had to get a full new loom made.
not doubting your skills but have you checked your distributor? its all timed up correctly ?
I'm just throwing ideas out here.
otherwise sounds like a bent valve too me.
is it backfiring out of your throttles or exhaust? if its throttles i would suggest a decent timing issues
anyway hope this all heps
I'm running 3 wires to the throttle position sensor brown, white and blue,
what do you mean that they have to be flipped?
not sure on how to church timing for everything so I might take it into a mechanic tonight
It shouldn't be a bent valve because it's a fresh build with only 5000ks on it
And it wasn't backfiring out of the throttles or exhaust
Thanks for the help
you have the correct wires, i was told to try turning the plug around so it runs in reverse as such? if you see what i mean
i think its like brown - blue etc etc
do a bit of research on that one first, i had a whole new loom made and got it back running.
its not your tune? my base tune was fucking appalling but this was due to ECU installer
It needs a tune because it's running very rich, but would a bad tune cause it to misfire
ABSOLUTELY!!! I'd suggest getting it tuned dude, your Tuner will be able to diagnose some of your misfiring issues too
(timing, ping, detonation, air fuel etc etc)
Are you running a vacuum distribution block?
You mean one of these?
thanks been looking for the proper setup for a while, going to take my car to the dyno shop after school and have a talk to them about it and maybe book it in to get tuned.
