You risk damaging the insert by trying to grip it more.
If it were mine I would be looking at using a dremel type tool with a high speed metal cutting disc fitted. Diagonally (because it looks like better access) cut across a flat of the nut until almost through and then use a decent cold chisel to break the nut off.
Clean the shaft where you are going to grip it with brake cleaner. Find a small piece of fuel/heater/pvc hose about the same diameter as the shaft and cut it lengthways along one side and slip it over the shaft. Get some good quality curved jaw vice grips and put them on as tight as possible. Use your masturbating hand for extra strength. Use a good quality pneumatic rattle gun with the pressure turned up as high as you dare.
